U.S. reported higher-than-expected initial jobless claims last week

Initial jobless claims rose by 7,000 to 225,000 last week, the Labor Department reported.

The number of Americans continuing to file for unemployment benefits rose to 1.493 million, exceeding analysts’ expectations of 1.475 million.
