Japanese Airlines Experience Near Full Bookings for China-Japan Flights During National Day Holiday

Japanese airlines have reported that flights from China to Japan are witnessing near-full bookings during China’s eight-day holiday, commencing on September 29. This surge in travel demand comes despite recent concerns surrounding a canceled trip to Japan in the wake of treated radioactive contaminated water discharge from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Data analysis conducted by companies such as Baidu Inc. has revealed that Japan ranks among the most sought-after overseas destinations for Chinese tourists during holidays, including the combined Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday period.

An official from a prominent Japanese airline expressed, “There has been a significant influx of airline ticket bookings from China to Japan, and we have not experienced any adverse effects stemming from the treated water discharge.”

Earlier this week, Ichiro Takahashi, the head of the Japan Tourism Agency, addressed reporters and asserted that the release of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant, which commenced on August 24, had not significantly impacted the number of Chinese tourists traveling to Japan. This assertion was made following inquiries conducted by the agency, in collaboration with travel agents in China, aimed at assessing the potential effects on holiday travel bookings.

The robust demand for flights from China to Japan during the National Day holiday highlights the resilience of Japan’s appeal as a travel destination for Chinese tourists. As travel restrictions evolve and consumer confidence returns, the tourism industry continues to adapt to changing dynamics, reaffirming its pivotal role in fostering cultural exchange and economic growth.
