France faces record heat in 2022

Meteo France, France’s national meteorological agency, reports that 2022 will be the warmest year in France since it began collecting data. The average temperature will be above 14.2 degrees Celsius throughout the year.

In early November, the French health authority said that the heat wave that hit the country this summer resulted in 2,816 more deaths compared to the previous five years.

According to the Meteorological Service, most parts of France will face blistering heat and severe drought in 2022, as rainfall is expected to be 25% below normal this year.
