Mortgage applicants decline in U.S. after lending rates increased

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) announced that mortgage applicants fell 0.1% last week after mortgage rates rebounded.

The number of refinancing applications fell by 4% last week and by 87% compared to the same period last year.

The number of applicants for home equity loans rose 1% last week, but fell 41% from the same period last year.

The average interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages for loans up to $647,200 rose to 7.14% from 7.06% the previous week.
