The Labor Department reported that initial jobless claims fell to 214,000 last week, the lowest level in three weeks and below analysts’ expectations of 230,000.
Jobless claims are below 215,000, the weekly average before the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Labor reported that the number of Americans continuing to file for unemployment benefits increased by 21,000 to 1.385 million.
