China’s Manufacturing Services Sector Contracted in April

China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that China’s manufacturing purchasing managers’ index was 47.4 in April, down from 49.5 in March.

According to NBS, the resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic in the country has brought the factory’s production activity and market demand to a standstill.

The sub-index for manufacturing was 44.4 points in April, 5.1 points lower than in March. The subindex for new orders was 42.6, 6.2 points lower than in March.

China’s services PMI was 41.9 in April, down from 48.4 in March.
