Apple to Invest $250 Million in Singapore Campus Expansion

Apple Inc., a leading US technology firm, has announced its intention to allocate over $250 million towards the expansion of its campus and regional operations in Singapore’s Ang Mo Kio district.

The investment will focus on the extensive renovation of two buildings acquired by Apple in 2022, strategically positioned across from the company’s existing offices in Singapore.

In a statement, Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed the company’s admiration for Singapore, labeling it as a “special place” and emphasizing their pride in fostering connections with the nation’s creators, learners, and innovators.

Apple’s history in Singapore dates back to 1981 when it established its inaugural office in the country, initially staffed by 72 employees dedicated to the development of the pioneering “Apple II,” the company’s first personal computer.

Since then, Apple’s presence in Singapore has flourished, with its workforce expanding to over 3,600 employees. Singapore now serves as a pivotal operations hub for Apple in the region.

The planned investment underscores Apple’s long-term commitment to Singapore and its strategic significance within the company’s global operations.

In related news, Bloomberg news agency reported, citing reliable sources, that Tim Cook is scheduled to visit Singapore from April 18-19. During his visit, Cook is expected to hold meetings with Lawrence Wong, slated to assume the role of Singapore’s prime minister next month, as well as with current Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Apple’s significant investment in expanding its presence in Singapore underscores the company’s confidence in the country’s business environment and its determination to deepen its engagement with the local community and economy.
