China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. has reported a significant milestone, with a total of 103.32 million kilowatts of new power installed in five southern Chinese provinces. As of the end of July, this remarkable achievement accounted for 25% of the region’s total installed capacity.
The report highlights the exceptional progress made by five provincial-level areas, namely Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan, in harnessing new energy sources. In just seven months from January to July, they collectively produced a staggering 87.5 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, representing an impressive 37.4% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, the report indicates that the new energy consumption rate in these regions has surpassed 99.9%.
Tang Bao, the planning manager of the China Southern Power Grid, emphasized that the five provincial-level areas have accelerated their efforts in developing new energy solutions since the beginning of the year. As a result, new energy has emerged as the second-largest power supply in the country, highlighting the region’s commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly power generation. Notably, Yunnan and Guangxi have been at the forefront of this energy revolution, making substantial contributions to the overall success.
This significant achievement underscores China’s ongoing commitment to achieving its renewable energy goals and promoting sustainable development in the region. As new energy capacity continues to grow, it is expected to play an increasingly vital role in meeting the country’s energy demands while reducing carbon emissions and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
The success of these southern provinces in surpassing 100 million kilowatts of new energy capacity serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for other regions worldwide. As countries around the globe seek to transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, the experiences and strategies implemented in southern China provide valuable insights and lessons for fostering a greener and more sustainable future. The continued expansion of new energy capacity is a crucial step in the global effort to combat climate change and create a cleaner and more sustainable planet for generations to come.
