Finland’s Consumer Confidence Index Declines in May after Four Consecutive Months of Rebound

Helsinki, Finland – In a recent report by the Finnish National Statistical Office, it has been revealed that the country’s consumer confidence index experienced a decline in the month of May, putting an end to four months of consecutive rebound. The index fell from -7.9 in April to -8.8 in May, indicating a shift in consumer sentiment.

The Office of Statistics further highlighted that the decline in consumer confidence was primarily driven by a decrease in optimism surrounding personal finances and the overall economic outlook in Finland, as compared to the previous month. However, despite this decline, the index still reflects a greater level of confidence when compared to the same period last year.

While the decline in the Consumer Confidence Index may raise concerns about the future trajectory of Finland’s economy, it is important to note that the current index level still indicates a relatively higher level of confidence compared to the same period in the previous year. This suggests that despite the setback, there remains a certain degree of optimism among Finnish consumers.
