Tesla’s new hires must be approved by Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc., has expressed concerns about the company’s current hiring practices and has now taken control of the hiring process. In an email to employees on May 15th, Musk stated that he wants to “better understand our hiring practices” and requested that vice presidents send him a list of job requests for each department once a week.

Musk went on to make it clear that he would be reviewing all hiring decisions, saying, “Think carefully before sending me a hiring request. Tesla can’t hire anyone, even contract workers, until it is approved by me.” This announcement signals a change in the company’s hiring practices, with Musk taking a more hands-on approach to managing Tesla’s workforce.

The email has sparked speculation among employees about the reasons for the change. Some see it as a signal of a potential suspension of employment, while others believe that Musk is simply turning his attention to Tesla’s business following his recent appointment of a new CEO of Twitter.

In March of this year, Tesla’s net profit fell more than 20% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period the previous year. As a result, Tesla’s share price dropped 10%, causing concern among analysts. At the time, Musk stated that Tesla was more focused on sales than profit, a statement that did little to reassure investors.

Despite these challenges, Tesla remains a major player in the US electric car market. The company has a loyal customer base and is constantly innovating, with new models and technologies in the pipeline. With Musk taking a more active role in the hiring process, it remains to be seen what impact this will have on the company’s future success.
