Vietnam’s February CPI jumps 4.31% as housing and food prices rise

Vietnam’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 4.31% YoY in February due to an increase in prices related to housing, tourism services, and food, according to the Vietnam Statistical Office (GSO).

The biggest impact on inflation was from education expenditure, which rose by 10.4% in February, followed by prices related to housing and construction materials, which rose 7.88% YoY for the same period. Additionally, the prices of cultural, entertainment, and tourism services increased by 4.74%.

The CPI also rose 0.45% in February compared to January and 0.97% from December. Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes prices for food, energy, and public services, rose 4.96% in February YoY and 0.25% from January.
