Malaysia’s unemployment rate falls to 3.6% in November 2022

According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), unemployment in Malaysia declined steadily to 600,900 in November 2022, bringing the unemployment rate down to 3.6%. The DOSM said that the labor market became stronger in November in line with the development of current economic activities.

The labor market situation continued to improve during the month. The number of employed people increased steadily, while the number of unemployed people decreased.

According to the data, the number of employed persons continued to increase in November. The number increased by 0.2 percentage points from the previous month to 16.71 million, while the labor force participation rate rose by 0.1 percentage points to 69.8%. The number of employed persons increased by 0.2% in November compared with the previous month to 16.11 million.

The DOSM says the labor market is therefore expected to maintain a more stable recovery trend and be more in line with the current positive economic development, especially in early 2023.
