Malaysia’s domestic minister said Malaysia will waive employment quotas in major industries to speed up the hiring of foreign workers. This is because there are labor shortage problems in several key industrial sectors in the country.
The report said employers are no longer required to follow quota regulations and other practices when hiring foreign workers from 15 countries but are temporarily exempted from this requirement for one year, which only applies to the submission of new applications.
Malaysia is increasing recruitment. The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken over the matter from the Ministry of Human Resources. In 2022, Malaysia approved only 676,070 job applications out of a total of 1.6 million.
