Japan GDP contracted by 0.8% in the 3rd quarter

Japan’s economy contracted by 0.8% year-on-year in the July-September quarter, slower than the 1.2% expected.

The gross domestic product (GDP) published by the Cabinet Office was in line with economists’ forecasts of a 1.1% contraction.

Compared with the previous quarter, GDP contracted by 0.2%, compared with a decline of 0.3% in the previous quarter.
