According to the German Federal Statistical Office, German industrial production fell less sharply than expected in October. But it was put under pressure by a decline in production in energy-intensive industries.
According to the report, industrial production fell 0.1% in October, below analysts’ forecasts of a 0.6% decline. Production in energy-intensive industries fell 3.6% in October, in stark contrast to the industry as a whole.
The statistics office revised September’s industrial production figures to a 1.1% increase, following an earlier 0.6% rise.
