U.S. factory orders up 0.3% in September

According to the U.S. Commerce Department, factory orders in the U.S. rose 0.3% in September after increasing 0.2% in August.

Factory orders in September rose 13.0% year-on-year.

Orders for core capital goods (excluding weapons and aircraft) fell 0.4% in September, which was taken as an indicator of business confidence and spending plans.
