Durable goods orders in the U.S. up slightly in September

According to the U.S. Commerce Department, orders for U.S. durable goods such as aircraft, automobiles and heavy machinery that last three years or longer rose 0.4% in September.

Orders for durable goods were boosted in September by orders for motor vehicles and aircraft.

New orders for core durable goods, i.e., capital goods excluding aircraft and weapons, decreased by 0.5% in September after increasing by 0.3% in August.
