China’s sea freight volume up 4.9% in the first eight months of the year

According to China’s Ministry of Transport, Chinese sea cargo volumes rose 4.9% to more than 5.57 billion tons between January and August this year.

The Ministry informed that the total volume of cargo transportation by waterways amounted to 731.69 million tons, taking into account only the month of August.

In the central province of Hubei, maritime traffic recorded the highest growth in the first eight months of this year, up 24.3% year-on-year, followed by Liaoning in the northeast and Hainan Province in the south of the country.
