Economic sentiment index for the Eurozone fell sharply in September

Economic sentiment in the euro zone has fallen significantly and more sharply than expected. Businesses and consumers are pessimistic about the inflation outlook in the coming months.

The European Commission’s (EC) monthly economic confidence index fell to 93.7 in September from 97.3 in August

Confidence declined in all sectors of the economy, including industry, services, retail, and consumers.

The household confidence index fell from -25.0 to -28.8 as consumers anticipated a worsening financial situation in the coming months and were expected to scale back their plans to make large purchases in their homes.
