BoE raises interest rates by 0.50%

Die Bank of England (BoE) hat auf ihrer gestrigen Sitzung den Leitzins um 0,50 % auf 2,25 % angehoben. Dies ist der höchste Stand seit 2008 (14 Jahre) und die siebte Zinserhöhung in Folge seit Dezember 2021.

The BoE also signaled that it will tighten monetary policy further to contain inflation.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) today voted unanimously to raise interest rates: Five of the directors voted for a 0.50% hike, three voted for a 0.75% hike, and one voted for a 0.25% hike.

Earlier, at its Aug. 4 meeting, the BoE voted 8-1 to raise interest rates by 0.50% to 1.75% – the largest rate hike in 27 years since 1995 amid growing concerns about the economy.
