China’s foreign direct investment increased by 16.4 % in the first eight months of this year

The foreign direct investment that flowed into China in the first eight months increased by 16.4% year-on-year to 892.74 billion yuan.

In dollar terms, foreign direct investment increased by 20.2% year-on-year to $138.41 billion.

According to the report, FDI in the service sector increased by 8.7% to 662.13 billion yuan, while China’s high-tech industry recorded a 33.6% year-on-year increase in FDI.

FDI in the high-tech manufacturing sector increased by 43.1% compared to the same period last year, while in the high-tech services sector it increased by 31%.

In the first eight months of 2022, FDI from South Korea, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom increased by 58.9%, 30.3%, 26.8%, and 17.2%, respectively.

From January to August, FDI in western China increased by 43% year-on-year, in the central region by 27.6% and in the eastern region by 14.3%.
