China’s Covid measures send coal production to the lowest level in three months

China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that daily coal production fell to a 3-month low as some mines in China’s largest coal production center cut production and some stopped manufacturing. This was due to the impact of heavy rains and China’s measures to combat the spread of COVID-19.

According to the NBS, China is the largest coal producer in the world. The country managed to produce 370.44 million tons of coal in August, or 11.95 million tons/day, down from 12.02 million tons/day in July.
