Inflation in Germany is on the rise again as food and energy prices soar

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), inflation in Germany accelerated again in August after slowing as expected in June and July. This is a signal that price pressure is continuing in view of the ongoing energy supply crisis.

The information states that the consumer price index (CPI) in August increased by 7.9% year-on-year and compared to an increase of 7.5% in July.

Destatis stated in the report, “The main cause of inflation is still inevitable, with rising prices for energy and food products.”
