The unemployment rate in Germany rose in August as more Ukrainian refugees arrived in Germany following the Russian invasion of Ukraine forcing many people to migrate.
In Germany, the number of unemployed rose by 28,000 in August, resulting in an increase in the unemployment rate to 5.5%.
The director of the German Labor Ministry said, “Despite the economic and political uncertainty in the country, the labor market remains strong.”
As unemployment and employment were below potential in August, the increase was more intense than usual. The main factor remains the labor registration of Ukrainian refugees.
