Japan’s unemployment rate was unchanged at 2.6% in July

Government data released today show that the unemployment rate in Japan was unchanged at 2.6% in July. The number of job vacancies rose for the seventh month in a row, reaching its highest level in two years.

Economists’ opinion polls put the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate at 2.6%.

Labor Department data showed the job openings-to-applications ratio was 1.29, up from 1.27 in June and the highest level since April 2020.
