Malaysia’s CPI rose by 4.4% in July, as expected

The Malaysian Bureau of Statistics reported that Malaysia’s consumer price index (CPI) rose 4.4% on an annual basis in July.

According to the report, the increase in the CPI in July was in line with the average forecasts of economists, while in June the CPI had increased by 3.4%.

In addition, the Malaysian Bureau of Statistics said in a statement that the CPI for July was largely driven by food.
