German economy grew by 0.1% in Q2 22, stronger than expected

The German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced today (August 25) that according to the second estimate, gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.1% in the second quarter of 2022 compared with the first quarter of this year. This is better than the expected economic stagnation due to high inflation and uncertainty following the imposed sanctions on Russia.

Compared with a year earlier, German GDP grew by 1.7% in Q2/22 after adjustment for calendar and inflation effects.
