Austrian inflation rises to highest level in 47 years in July

The Austrian Statistical Office reported that the consumer price index (CPI) rose by 9.3% year-on-year in July. This was the highest level since February 1975 (8.7% in June).

The increase in the CPI was due to a rise in energy and food prices.

The Austrian government introduced measures to combat inflation in June, including relief measures for the unemployed and groups of people affected by inflation.
