According to the Chinese Ministry of Transport, fixed asset investment in the Chinese transport sector continued to rise in the first seven months of this year.
Fixed asset investment in the transport sector totaled more than 1.6 trillion yuan in the January-July period, up 9.1% year-on-year.
According to the report, most of the investment is focused on the construction of road infrastructure and waterways. Investment in road construction increased by 9.2% year-on-year to around 1.52 trillion yuan.
At the same time, investment in waterway construction rose 7% year-on-year to 8.78 billion yuan in the first seven months of this year.
