Philippine inflation rate rose by 6.4% in July

The Bureau of Statistics reported today that the Philippines’ annual inflation rate rose to 6.4% in July, exceeding market expectations. This was due to higher transportation costs and rising food prices.

The figure was at the top of the range of 5.6% to 6.4% that the central bank had forecast for the month.
