Number of job openings in the U.S. lower than expected in June
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Rate (JOLTS) report, showing that labor market demand fell by 605,000 jobs in June to 10.7 million. This is the lowest level since September 2021.
Employment fell 2% to 6.37 million.
Voluntary layoffs stood at 4.2 million, while layoffs were at 1.3 million.
