China’s services sector was the strongest in 15 months in July after measures against the epidemic were eased

Markit and Caixin said China’s services purchasing managers’ index (PMI) grew at its fastest pace in 15 months after the Chinese government eased measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, boosting consumer confidence.

The services PMI rose to 55.5 in July from 54.5 in June, with the July PMI growing at the fastest pace since April 2021.

China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) previously reported that the service sector PMI was 53.8 in July, down from 54.7 in June. A reading above 50 indicates that China’s service sector continues to expand.
