The Retail Association of Thailand, in collaboration with the Bank of Thailand (BOT), released the Retail Sentiment Index (RSI) for June at 48.9, down 4.4 percentage points from 53.3 in May, continuing the decline for the third consecutive month.
This reflects waning confidence. As a result of the rising cost of living, consumers’ weak purchasing power has continued to worsen, while entrepreneurs lack confidence in their business activities.
Meanwhile, the retail confidence index for the next three months fell by 4.4 from 58.7 in May to 54.3 in June. This reflects concerns about the development of business costs and rising product prices, including the country’s economic growth is expected to be revised downward.
