Singapore’s Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) said Thursday (June 9) that Singapore and China had signed an agreement to deepen cooperation in military officer training and academic exchanges between military academies and the Ministry of Finance.
This includes attending professional courses by staff from the Singapore Armed Forces and People’s Liberation Army (PLA), as well as educational visits and dialogue between the SAFTI Military Institute and the PLA Academy of Military Sciences.
Singapore’s Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen and Chinese Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe have witnessed the signing of the agreement.
The ministers met at the MINDEF building as part of the first talks between the defense ministers of Singapore and China.
The ministerial-level talks are an initiative under the 2019 Agreement on Enhancing National Defense and Security Cooperation (ADESC) between Singapore and China.
