French Service and Manufacturing PMI down in May

The French purchasing managers’ index (PMI) for the services sector was 58.4 in May, down from 58.9 in April, according to S&P Global.

An index above 50 indicates that French economic activity is expanding.

The manufacturing PMI fell to 54.5 in May from 55.7 in April.

The French PMI for manufacturing and services was 57.1 in May, down from 57.5 in April.

The inflation rate in France rose unexpectedly in April. It reached a record 5.4%, and the French government is looking for ways to help households cope with the rising cost of living.
