France’s Unemployment Rate Falls

According to the French statistics office (INSEE), the unemployment rate in France fell slightly to a 14-year low in the first quarter of 2022.

According to the report, the unemployment rate in France fell to 7.3% in 1Q22 from 7.4% in the previous quarter.

The unemployment rate was the lowest since the second quarter of 2008, with the exception of the early COVID-19 pandemic, as people were forced to stop working during the nationwide lockdown.

The rise in unemployment figures is good news for President Macron, who just won a second term in last month’s presidential election. He is preparing for the parliamentary elections in June, which will determine whether or not he will win a majority in the House of Representatives.
