South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said today that South Korean exports of information and communications technology (ICT) products rose 16.9% year on year to $19.94 billion in April.
The rise in ICT exports in April was the 13th consecutive month of ten-digit growth.
Meanwhile, imports of ICT goods increased by 12.4% to $12.13 billion in April. This resulted in a trade surplus of $7.81 billion.
Broken down by type, semiconductor exports showed a 16% year-on-year increase. They reached $10.9 billion in April, exceeding the $10 billion mark for the twelfth consecutive month.
Exports of monitors rose 22.5% to $2.05 billion and exports of cell phones increased 0.6% to $1.24 billion in April.
ICT exports to China, South Korea’s largest trading partner, rose 4.1% year-on-year in April. Exports to the US, the European Union (EU), and Vietnam rose by more than 20% in the same month.
