BMW CEO Oliver Zipse said he expects the shortage of semiconductors to remain a problem for the auto industry until 2023.
“We are still in the height of the chip shortage. I expect us to start seeing improvements at the latest next year, but we will still have to deal with a fundamental shortage in 2023,” he told the Neue Zuricher Zeitung.
Arno Antlitz, Volkswagen’s chief financial officer, expressed similar sentiments, predicting that the global supply of chips will be insufficient to meet demand through 2024.
