Honduras to Officially Accept Bitcoin as Legal Tender

According to rumors from several internet sources, Honduras could be the next country after El Salvador to officially accept Bitcoin (BTC) as legal tender.

The country’s president, Xiomara Castro, stated that “El Salvador should not be the only country to escape the power of the dollar, stressing that it is the right of Honduras to go to the First World.”

The Honduran president made the announcement on Monday morning, March 21, while the Central American country is closely monitoring the development. Previously, in August 2021, Honduras launched its first Bitcoin and Ethereum ATM in the capital Tegucigalpa, allowing users to buy digital assets with the local currency Lempira.
