Amid strict “restrictive” activities regarding all types of cryptocurrencies in the People’s Republic of China. China’s state news agency Xinhua fearlessly unveiled its first collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) today.
The news agency said Wednesday (Dec. 22) that the NFT series it will publish is an international news aggregator. It has been made available to the public free of charge for the first time. According to the official website of the news agency, the contents of the NFT were created from news photos from 2021, among others, including the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and the news that the number of vaccinations in China has exceeded 2.6 billion doses.
The first NFT collection of Xinhua News Agency includes only 11 news pictures in total.
However, what stunned many people was the move by Chinese state news agencies to publish the first NFT amid the elimination of all kinds of crypto activities in China, and Xinhua also published an article criticizing crypto as a “fraud scheme.”
