Bitcoin Gains More Than 3% As Musk Lifts Dogecoin

The bitcoin price is able to gain 3.23% early Wednesday morning in Asia (Dec. 15) at 8:20 a.m. ET, hovering at $48,182.64.

Bitcoin’s positive performance comes as Dogecoin surged nearly 30% on Tuesday following a statement by Elon Musk, chief executive of Tesla Inc, that Tesla will accept Dogecoin from customers to buy Teslas.

Musk announced Tuesday that Tesla plans to accept Dogecoin from customers for car purchases in the future. Now the company will first accept Dogecoin for trials. As a result, Dogecoin rose 29.33% and is currently trading at $0.8136.

Musk had previously asked for the opinion of his Twitter followers, which total 53.8 million people.

He asked, “Should Tesla, Inc. accept Dogecoin for car purchases?”, 30 minutes after he tweeted the message, it received 750,000 replies.
